Bring catwalk style inside and create an interior look fit for a fashionista
Here at Julian Charles, our talented team of designers always have their fingers on the pulse when it comes to the latest trends, particularly those that are making the transition from the catwalk to the home, so that they can be sure that their beautiful bedding and luxury curtain creations take inspiration from current as well as classic styles.
Our textile designer, Katie Glenn, has been checking out the on-trend styles showcased at London Fashion Week and has a few hints and tips to share on how you can introduce them into your own interior styling.
"With the cold weather well and truly upon us, it’s hard to stop yourself wishing away the long dark nights, thinking ahead to warmer climes and planning that all important summer holiday. "
"As well as warmer weather, summer 2016 will bring with it some standout interior trends, influenced by the designs and themes showcased across the major fashion shows earlier this season. One of the key trends will be the use of check stripes and tonal blues teamed with relaxing shades of grey, to bring the coastal catwalk trend indoors."
“Creating a chic seaside retreat, is easier than you may think but if you’re not sure where to start, give these three design ideas a try"
Make checks your mate
"Nautical checks and narrow stripes create an airy coastal aura in the bedroom and work beautifully to accent the seaside theme, especially when used across bedding. Paint walls in bright white to create a striking focal point to the room and a blank canvas in front of which your coastal theme can come alive."
Fabrics are your friend
"Don't be shy, be adventurous with fabrics to help create a real seaside style statement. Using faded fabrics with a weathered appearance embraces the essence and charm of coastal interiors."
"To bring the seaside inside and to create your own cosy beach hut look, add a blend of beautiful fabrics, from woollen knitted throws and checked luxury curtain to wooden button detailing, which will add depth and texture and a charming finishing touch."
It’s all in the detail
"Attention to detail in your accessorising is key to getting the coastal living trend just right. Coastal chic comes alive through the finest of detailing and propping, from small shells to pretty pebbles. Wall art and beach-inspired canvas prints, as well as personal photos of sunshine trips gone by will instantly add character and personalise your living space."
“Complement your coastal decor with natural tones and distressed textured materials to create a seaside scheme that can be enjoyed year-round.”
