A Guide To The Perfect Bed

A Guide To The Perfect Bed

First things first, the fitted sheet. Before you put on your fitted sheet, look at the tag. Getting your fitted sheets onto your bed is tough and is hard to tell which way is up, down and sideways. Many brands offer tags on the inside of the sheet which lines up with the bottom left-hand corner of the mattress and although every brand doesn’t offer this, it is still a method which works for many.

Everyone will find that fitted sheets are almost impossible to fold and store because of the elasticated edges, which usually make a crumpled, wrinkly mess. Luckily, we have a special folding process, which will eliminate those problems for good.

  • Stand holding the sheet by the two adjacent corners of one of the shorter edges. With the sheet inside out, place one hand in each of these two corners.
  • Bring your right hand to your left, and fold the corner in your right hand over the one in your left, enveloping it. Next, reach down and pick up the corner that is hanging in front; bring it up, and fold it over the two corners in your left hand; the corner that's showing will be inside out.
  • Bring the last corner up, and fold it over the others; with its right side showing, it should envelop the other three corners.
  • Lay the folded sheet on a flat surface and straighten it into the shape shown.
  • Fold the two edges in so all the elastic is hidden.
  • Fold the sheet into a rectangle and store away.

Nothing is more frustrating than getting your duvet cover onto your duvet, making you procrastinate changing your bed for that bit longer. Luckily, we have found a simple solution for you, which will get rid of that aggravation forever. We like to call it the ‘burrito’ method.

  • Start by turning your duvet cover inside out and laying it flat on top of your bed with the opening at the bottom.
  • Lay your duvet directly on top of your cover matching corner to corner.
  • Bring the last corner up, and fold it over the others; with its right side showing, it should envelop the other three corners.
  • Begin rolling them both up together like a Burrito ready for your nifty stuffing action.
  • Reach into the opening of your duvet cover and flip it over the end of your burrito, exposing the right hand side of your duvet. Complete this step on the other side and middle.
  • Continue to unroll back up the bed and voila, you should have a lump free duvet!

military corners

If you’re looking to achieve that hotel bed finish, complete your beautifully made bed by using what is known as ‘military corners’. This can be achieved by putting a deep fitted sheet on your bed, leaving the ends of the sides hanging below the mattress. Proceed to lift the mattress and swipe one side of the sheet underneath and continue to do the same with the other side of the corner. This is a tried and tested way to get a tidy-looking bed every time.

Changing your pillowcases and scatter cushion covers has never been easier! Instead of trying to squeeze your pillow into the pillowcase, turn the case inside out whilst putting your arm inside to grab the corner of the pillow. Next, roll back the cover of your pillow so that it is no longer inside out. When finishing your bed with decorative pillows, we recommend starting off with a pair of pillow shams at the back before displaying your actual sleeping pillows in front. To create more interest and depth to your bed, use an odd number of scatter cushions, which are appealing to the eye and colour scheme. A bolster cushion placed at the very front adds a glamorous touch.

For a luxury finish to make your guests feel right at home, give them their very own hotel bed turn down service. Begin by folding down the top of your flat sheet and duvet whilst tucking the edges under the mattress along the sides for a tight, neat finish, which is also inviting.
