editors note

As we wave a steady goodbye to Autumn, our Senior Textile Designer has rounded up her favourite collections from the month to help you create your dream, on-trend Fall home. With the shift into the Winter season, it’s often difficult to find a transitional décor style that will carry you through both seasons. So, with that in mind, feast your eyes on what style tip gems she has to offer...

Natures Elements

''The use of natural more organic looking décor around your home is what I use to create a seasonal Autumn/Winter transition with elements of the cold outdoors. I like to use linen tablecloths, jute rugs and faux fur throws around my living room, whilst using neutral colour palettes like creams, slates and browns. I particularly love our Wish bedding which has enchanting tree silhouettes in natural colours reversed with pale silver grey and white geometric print for a modern twist. For extra cosiness, it is crafted from brushed cotton to help trap the heat in on those extra chilly nights! I love paring this with faux fur cushions and throws for a rustic winter lodge feel! This style bedding lends itself to natural wood, ceramic or wicker accessories such as storage baskets and hanging decorations.''

Geometrics

''I think geometrics are a style that can be carried through all seasons and styled in different ways with accessories and colour schemes. Plus, bold geo tiles and shapes work with both modern and traditional settings and can create an eye-catching effect when used in different sizes. Our Harrison bedding is made into a jacquard weave to give it a lustre with the silver and white large all-over geo prints leaving a striking design. I love how the quilted grey throw breaks up the pattern and the colour palette is so elegant. Silver and white can be carried through seasons if the throws and accessories are interchanged. For example, I replaced the lighter throw with a heavier chunky knit throw in grey to bring a warmer more wintery feel.''

Velvets

''I think velvets can be a love-hate interior addition, but if you’re looking for a more on-trend, luxurious twist to your interior then velvet is the way forward! I have found my Lia mauve bedding has transitioned my bedroom perfectly throughout Autumn and Winter. The crushed velvet panel along the duvet cover, pillowcases and throw reflect the light in an abundance of ways making my room look oh-so luxurious. The deep mauve colour gave a moody, warmer feel to my bedroom in Autumn and was in-line with the deep burgundy fallen leaves outside. To give a brighter airier feel, I removed the velvet throw so my bed didn’t look as heavy. As we come into Winter, I have added silver ornaments and purple sparkling decorations around the room which complement the bed beautifully! If velvet bedding isn’t your thing, you can still create a similar look but with our Allure crushed velvet curtains in a variety of colours, which will dress your windows so decadently.''

Layers

''It’s amazing what a few throws and cushions can do to enhance your interior and keep it up to date with the season. I prefer to accessorize my bedroom and living room with all new festive scatter cushions and cosy throws to avoid a complete home revamp. For a quaint country feel for Winter, I love to use our Jasper chunky knit throw layered with our Dakota faux fur throws and coordinating cushions. Using contrasting textures with harmonizing colours will add warmth and comfort for you and your guests. Mixing cream and stone together is my favourite way to combine neutrals.''

Light It Up

''What I love about Fall and Winter is the darker evenings where everything starts to feel cosier and more atmospheric. There’s no better way to add warmth into your home than that of gentle candle light. I love spreading candles around my home through the living room and around the bathroom with a seasonal scent. Whilst Autumn lends itself to a crisper more vibrant smell, Winter reminds me of warmer more spiced fruit essences. That’s why our Orange and Bergamot candle is perfect to settle down in the evening to help me reduce stress after a long day at work. Candles should always be displayed with fairy lights so you have lots of soft lighting scattered around your home!''

Seasonal Covers

''We all know that when Autumn/Winter time comes around, the utility bill can be slightly scary! So, I find every year that an All Seasons duvet is the answer! To save you buying 2 to 3 different duvets and togs a year, our All Seasons Hotel Luxe Duvet has been a saviour. This has one 4.5 Tog and one 9 Tog duvet that can be separated for the warmer months and put together to create a 13.5 Tog duvet for the cooler seasons. Plus, they are so snuggly with their peach-soft feel and also so breathable which is very important in a duvet!''
