January Designers Picks

January Designers Picks

We may be coming to the end of January, but although this means one step closer to Spring, it is now starting to feel more like winter than ever with all the snow blizzards and frosty gloomy breezes outside! Many of us find the January to March period quite frankly, a little miserable; Christmas tree down, back to work and that new year diet slowly destroying what little life pleasures we had before. So, it is more important than ever that our homes offer warmth, comfort, happiness and cosiness through these miserable months and succeed to lift our moods with a fresh new space revamp. As I understand budgets are also significantly tighter at this time of the year, you can achieve an inexpensive overhaul just by using simple things such as accessories, colours and textures. I have been inspired by the latest homeware trends which are transcending through our new season collections as well as the fashion and interior world and I can’t wait to show you my favourite pieces so far…

What would Spring be without florals? We have a gorgeous range of different florals no off which will be sure to diminish all the bland areas of your home and inject that splash of bursting colour your rooms have been craving. Our ‘English Garden’ trend offers a mixture of deep, moody toned midnight florals alongside more traditional pretty painterly pastel buds and modern monochrome stylized flowers.

amelie coral

Our Amelie reversible bedding has beautiful large coral flowers on a neutral background on one side with tiny coral and white geo pattern on the reverse. For me, this offers two versatile designs and can give your bedroom two bold and alternative looks. This is coordinated with our Whisper mohair throw and cushion which are the perfect accessories for maintaining the winter cosiness. And wait, it gets better! Both the duvet set and accessories are featured in our Clearance down to as little as £12.99 for the bedding and £6.99 for the Whisper coordinates.

blossom silver

If floral bedding isn't your thing, why no try introducing these blooms on your window dressings. Curtains have the ability to instantly update a space immediately and would work perfectly in your bedroom or living room, as long as there is no floral clash with any other soft furnishings in the room. I'd suggest a lighter coloured curtain to brighten up your space and to give a gentle nod to Spring, but as there is still a chill in the air, it is key to make sure your curtains are lined and have a good weight to keep all the heat in. My personal favourite at the moment are our New Season Blossom silver grey floral lined curtains, they give such a decadent yet modern finish to a room and are adorned with cool white metallic splashes!

I’ll admit, florals aren’t for everyone. That’s why this year, the more androgynous-forward ‘Mark Making’ trend is all about bold geometric and linear patterns for a modern statement, ranging from large checks and geo prints to chevrons and stripes. All these brash, contrasting designs can be seen in a variety of less seasonal-led monochrome tones as well as some more spring/summer cool coastal inspired aqua hues.

parker grey

Our Parker bedding offers two different sketchy check designs in 3 shades of grey, with white set against deep charcoal on the reverse. I love the different moods that this bedding can set, offering a brighter and darker side to the pattern for seasonal transitions. Partner this with our chunky knit Jasper throw and cushion to pick out the deeper tones and add a snuggly layer.

delta grey

Speaking of geometrics, if I were to adopt this Mark Making trend for my home, i'd personally prefer to use these bold patterns on my curtains and keep my bedding minimal. Working as the focal point within your living space, the modern way of decorating is by splashing these geos right the way around your room in subtle hints. To avoid them being too overpowering, a monochrome palette should be used with a splash of colour to bring it to life. Our Delta lined curtains in grey and yellow are such a retro, Scandinavian inspired design to refresh your space with their easy to coordinate colours. I heard on the grapevine these are a best seller, so grab yours before its curtains!

I trust my hottest picks of this month will help give you inspiration for your New Year revamp and have given you an insight into the upcoming homeware trends of SS18. Spring, we're ready for you!
